"Cairns" is a re-telling of the myth of Sisyphus as a conversation with the stone. Written by the poet Phil Memmer and illustrated with this suite of intaglio prints by John Fitzsimmons. Published by Lost Horse Press.
"In late 2021, Phil Memmer mentioned that he was working on an epic poem based on the myth of Sisyphus, we disagree on who asked who, but I immediately signed on to illustrate the book. I instantly knew that I wanted to produce a series of etchings or drypoints not as literal illustrations but more as a parallel effort. I spent about 7 months and some false starts. In the end I ended up with 12 prints, 2 etchings and the rest drypoint prints."
This series of 12 prints is in a limited edition of 25 proofs on cotton rag Arches paper. Unframed prints available. Also available as a complete set of 12 in a custom portfolio by Master Book Artist Carrie Valenzuela — inquire here.
